About the Journal

The Vietnam Journal of Chemistry is an official research journal of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, Hanoi. It was founded in 1962 and has been publishing in Vietnamese and English ever since. It is strictly peer-reviewed and welcomes research Articles and Short Communications as well as Reviews covering both theoretical and experimental applications in all areas of chemistry.

From 2019, the journal has switched to the web-based ScholarOne system for the submission and peer review of manuscripts, which makes the publication process more convenient and more efficient for authors, reviewers and editors.

The Vietnam Journal of Chemistry is jointly published by the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and Wiley-VCH, and is published in six issues per year. All issues are published in English.

The editors of the Vietnam Journal of Chemistry

18-06-2021

The editors of the Vietnam Journal of Chemistry wish you a great start to 2018, as well as an excellent year of fruitful research and collaboration ahead.

This year marks the beginning of an exciting new era for the journal. We are delighted to announce that the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) has signed an agreement with Wiley-VCH to closely cooperate and jointly publish the Vietnam Journal of Chemistry. From Issue 1/2018, all issues of Vietnam Journal of Chemistry are available online on Wiley Online Library, one of the world’s most extensive multidisciplinary collections of online resources. This extensive platform is home of more than 1500 journals, 9000 books, and hundreds of reference works, and is visited by more than 15 million users per month. The number of accesses to articles on Wiley Online Library has grown impressively year after year, and 2017 has been a bumper year in terms of full-text downloads. Vietnam Journal of Chemistry will not only be visible to more readers from around the world on this platform, but will also have the same modern features as other journals on Wiley Online Library, such as enhanced PDF reading, search engine optimization, altmetrics, access to related articles via CrossRef, and electronic table-of-contents alerts. The timing of this cooperation is also ideal: As of 2018, journals on Wiley Online Library are migrating to a highly flexible, forward-facing publishing platform hosted by Atypon; this new development will create even more possibilities for enhancing the capabilities to meet future needs for the journal and its readers.

The Vietnam Journal of Chemistry has a rich and proud history. It was founded in 1962 and has been publishing articles since then in both Vietnamese and English. Vietnam Journal of Chemistry is now entering its 56th volume and currently publishes six issues each year, covering both theoretical and experimental applications in all branches of chemistry. While the journal serves as an important forum for the highly active community of chemists in Vietnam, it also publishes an increasing number of papers from abroad. Through this new cooperation, we envision that Vietnam Journal of Chemistry will be well placed to increase its visibility internationally via a greater online presence and to meet higher international standards. As part of this, we will look to increase the involvement of international members in the Editorial Board. We look forward to publishing and promoting more excellent articles from authors from Vietnam as well as from abroad.

An important aspect of our new cooperation is the exchange between the Editorial Office in Hanoi and the Publisher at Wiley-VCH in all aspects of the journal. Wiley-VCH has a legacy of developing national society journals from Europe as well as from Asia into modern international journals. Vietnam Journal of Chemistry will now be published under the same roof with Angewandte ChemieChemistry – An Asian Journal, and many other successful journals in chemistry. As such, our cooperation will benefit from the editorial expertise of the large team of in-house chemistry experts at Wiley-VCH. And within Wiley Online Library, Vietnam Journal of Chemistry will be seamlessly linked to these and other top chemistry titles. At this occasion we would like to express our sincere thanks to the VAST leadership for its very important support and help in this cooperation.

Vietnam Journal of Chemistry currently publishes Articles, Short Communications, and Reviews. The Editorial Office will consider an expansion of these article types to include more content that communicates developments in academia and industry in Vietnam. And steps are also planned to further increase the speed of publication while maintaining the highest quality of the articles. While articles will continue to be published in both Vietnamese and English within 2018, it is envisioned that all articles will be in English from 2019, to further increase the international reach of the journal.

We invite you to browse the articles of Vietnam Journal of Chemistry, send us your feedback, and propose new article topics or features.  To celebrate this new era for the journal, all articles in 2018 are freely accessible for all readers. We are looking forward to an exciting development for the journal, and we hope you enjoy the new format and features. We wish you continued success in your research, and we welcome your next excellent article in Vietnam Journal of Chemistry.
