Happy 75th birthday to Prof JN Reddy

J.N. Reddy is a Distinguished Professor, Regents' Professor and inaugural holder of the Oscar S. Wyatt Endowed Chair in Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, USA.

He has contributed significantly to research and education in applied and computational mechanics through his highly cited papers, textbooks and monographs on the theory and application of the finite element method; principles and variational methods in continuum nonlocal and non-classical mechanics; and refined theories of laminated composite plates and shells in solid and structures.

Professor J.N. Reddy is the recipient of the 2019 Timoshenko Medal, a prestigious honor awarded by the Applied Mechanics Division of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) to top mechanicians around the world. The award recognizes his distinguished contributions to applied mechanics through research and education, which have impacted generations of engineers.

2020 is the 75th Birth Anniversary of Professor J.N. Reddy. Recently he was elected to be an Honorary Member of the European Academy of Sciences (2020). Last year he was elected to be a Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (2019) and a Corresponding Member of the Royal Academy of Engineering of Spain (2019). The Vietnam Journal of Mechanics is devoting Issue 3 of 2020 for this solemn event. The Editorial Board warmly wishes him good health, continued success and a fruitful life!
